Cantina Louie is bringing authentic Mexican street food to Amelia Island.
The first thing you will probably notice is the vibrant decor. The entire restaurant is decorated in Dia de los Muertos imagery, such as the giant sugar skull on the sign out front.
Once you’re inside, you’ll notice that Cantina Louie is a local hot spot. Take a seat outside on the huge deck or pick a roomy booth on the in the AC.
Have a bigger group? Sit at the long table with the big “El Padrino” chair at the end.
Fresh chips and salsa come to your table on the house, but you won’t want to miss a chance to add a bowl of warm queso. Our waitress suggested adding chorizo for a little extra–good call, Britney!
The Mexican Street Food and Specialty Taco menus are the most popular at Cantina Louie. Since the tacos are sold as singles, you can mix and match any way you want! Britney clued us in on some of the favorites.
“The Surf & Turf tacos are definitely the most popular,” she says. “The steak and fresh catch shrimp make a perfect combo.”
And if you’re looking for something different from the usual, Britney suggested another Mexican street staple.
“You have to try the Torta,” she says. “Sandwiches aren’t necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when people think of Mexican food, but they’re never disappointed.”
Don’t even think about leaving without getting an order of churros for dessert. The churros at Cantina Louie are cream filled, dusted with cinnamon and sugar and drizzled with chocolate.
After the sugar rush, the kids–and kids at heart–can go out back and play mini golf, cornhole and foosball.
Bring the whole family for lunch or dinner at Cantina Louie.
